Construction sites which are located on mountains or rough terrain often have the problem getting the needed materials fast and economical. In such cases material ropeways are used. For smooth running in summer as well as in winter, the tension of the oftentimes miles long track ropes is measured. Because depending on the ambient temperature this tension can vary. To guarantee a constant track rope tension the rope has to be slacked off or re-stressed. For some time past BROSA force measuring pins are employed for this purpose as well.
Optionally, cable cranes can be used in material ropeways. The operator is in a position to pick up and transport heavy and bulky loads without additional aids. These cable cranes are equipped with force measurement, too. Thus, there is a simple and reliable control of the attached payload and overloading of the system is detected.
